Top 10 Camaros
On the heels of our Top 10 Mustangs, we give you our Top 10 Camaros. Now, the Camaro kinda owes its existence to the Ford, but in less time than it takes to hit 100 km/h in a 2013 ZL1, the Camaro created its own world. The Chevrolet Camaro saw the light of day as a 1967 model alongside its then twin, the Pontiac Firebird. The Camaro’s future was laid before it the moment the media began buzzing. The Camaro was going to be raced, modified and adored.
Over the years, as with the Mustang, numerous versions and special editions of this car were created.
Here is our top 10 list of our favourite Camaros of all time:
1967 Yenko Camaro

Don Yenko of Yenko Chevrolet was a man who made the Camaro truly competitive against the likes of the Plymouth Barracuda and Ford Mustang in the late ‘60s. One of his tricks consisted in dropping a Corvette 427ci V8 on Camaro hoods, something GM would not do…
2013 Camaro ZL1

This most modern of Camaros is the closest any Camaro has ever been to being a super car. From any angle, on paper and on the road, this ZL1 ignites passion and fire under laser-gun-toting police officers. A supercharged 580 hp 6.2L V8 makes it all possible.
2014 Camaro Z/28

The Z/28 has a long history - as long as the Camaro itself -- as being the version buyers go for if they intend on racing their car. At least that was the idea in the beginning… For 2014, the Z/28 returns with a vengeance and with a LS7 V8, ceramic brakes, and weight loss.
1997 Camaro SS

In this case, all years of the SS apply. If we had to pick one, we’d go for the one that reintroduced the SS, namely the SLP prepared 330 hp LT4 4th gen Camaro. With a few distinct physical touches and serious performance, this SS is a present and future classic.
1985 Camaro IROC-Z

The IROC (which stands for International Race of Champions) was an option package on the Z/28 in the late ‘80s meant to make it go faster. The base engine was the 305ci V8; however, many buyers wisely selected the 350ci 230hp V8 available with the IROC-Z coupe only.
1967 Camaro Indy Pace Car

This car could be considered as the first ever special edition Camaro. Although many replicas were made in both ‘67 and ‘69, the originals are hugely valuable. The ‘69 was the first special edition buyer’s could order to their taste. Thank-you ‘69 Pace Car.
1969 Camaro ZL-1 COPO

One should also thank Yenko as his creations are responsible for the Central Office Production Order (COPO) where customers could order an all-aluminum 427ci V8, known as the ZL1, for their Camaro. The catch was that the engine option cost over $4,000, nearly doubling the purchase price. Only 69 of these badass Camaros were made.
2012 Camaro Transformers Special Edition

Special because of the movie series, this Camaro sports Autobot badges, black stripes on the hood, roof, and boot lid on which a Bumblebee-specific spoiler sits. Black 20” wheels with Autobot center caps complete the package. If you’re a Transformers fan, this is tough to pass up.
1970 Camaro

The first year of the 2nd generation Camaro is quickly growing in popularity and worth. Wider and larger, it does not currently hold the panache of the 1st gen car, but mark our words, they will soon become a highly sought after collectible car.
1974 Camaro Z28

The revised and facelifted 1974 Camaro grew in length and lost some of its flash in the making. With the demise of the “real” Mustang and the end of MOPARS ponies, the Camaro was on its own. If ever a classic Camaro was attainable, this is the one. The same body style carried on until 1981.
